Essential Question: How to make a bath bomb?
This week, my partner Ivy and I decided to make bath bombs. At first, I thought that this was going to be hard but turns out it was really easy. Getting the products on the other hand was kind of difficult because we had to purchase some of the products that Andrew didn't have. We had to look up how to make it online and what ingredients we need. Once we had everything we started on Wednesday.
In order to make the bath bombs, we had to mix baking soda and citric acid together with the olive oil and water that are also mixed together but little by little otherwise it will fizz. Once we mixed it, we added up to 8 drops of essential oils of our choice which was Jasmin and Lavender. After we mixed the essential oils, we put a couple drops of food coloring again with our choice. We also read online that if you put too much food coloring, it will stain the tub so we did about 4-6 drops of each color. After that, mix until all the white powder has changed. We added small drops of water every now and then to make the mix a little moist. While one of us was mixing, the other was cutting two tennis balls. We used the tennis balls to compact the mix into them to form the bath bomb. We also added sprinkles and heart candy in the tennis balls before adding the mix (as you can see below) because they will just dissolve in the bath tub. After filling each half of the tennis ball with the mix, we mashed them together and carefully squeezed the outside of the tennis ball to get it out. Once we got them out, we put them in a bowl with paper towels and let them dry/form fully for 24 hours.
This experience was fun and really cool because I've never made one before.
