Essential questions: Is it a liquid or a solid?
Today a couple students and I did the oobleck lab. The lesson from this lab was to see the difference between a liquid and a solid. Before making the oobleck we learned the basics of what a liquid and a solid was by taking notes on looking at a penny which is a solid and water which is obviously a liquid.
The way we made oobleck was with cornstarch and water. After making the oobleck we got to experiment with it by touching it and picking it up to see how it reacts. Based off the experiment it's solid when nothing is touching it, but when it's being touching it turns into a liquid.
After the experiment, we found out that the oobleck is a liquid because even if it acts like a solid for a few seconds it still turns back into a liquid.
Is it a liquid?
When I first made it, it was very liquidy because I had to keep mixing it. But also when I touched it, it was very liquidy and easy to move around. I think it turns into a liquid because of the heat temperature in my body.
Is it a solid?
The oobleck seemed hard when my partner was poking it with a spoon and for myself to try it out, I touched it with my finger to see if it was hard or not and it was. I think it stays a solid when it's not being touched.
